Wonders of Wool
Young children have an undeveloped ability to regulate their own warmth. Children's temperature should be checked for overheating and at the same time kept nicely warm in order to grow properly. Wool is the best fiber to keep them comfortable, as it breathes and regulates dampness and temperature in a way that is unmatched by synthetics.
The percentage of Cashmere added to our wool allows a fine texture of softness which is sufficient to avoid skin irritation, while adding warmth and strength without any extra bulk Another benefit of wool is that it is self cleaning! It needs much less washing than cotton clothing. Airing it is often enough for 3-4 weeks before washing, as it naturally repels dirt and bacteria. When washing the wool, a wool wash is recommended, such as Euclan, which restores the wool's lanolin for extra softness. Euclan also naturally repels moths. Wool is naturally flame retardant.
Long underwear, and newborn size clothing, is made from unbleached wool. This can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture, without feeling damp, as moisture is easily being evaporated through the wool, keeping the skin dry and warm. Wool underwear can thus act like a 'second skin', adding comfort which helps to soothe and calm the child.
Safe synthetic reactive dyes are used which stay true and do not fade in washing. No unnecessary chemical treatments have been used in the washing and processing of the wool.
Our clothing allows children a freedom of movement, and will stand up to wear and tear. The styles are simple, childlike and unisex, with colors that are true and complementary, in keeping with children's healthy development.
